Oregon Coast Spring 2011

This weekend it was 8 years ago that Geoff and I met at the McMenamins Market pub in downtown Portland. It was a blind date through Yahoo Personals. Who would have known that we hit it off so well that we have now been married for almost 5 years, have a beautiful almost-three year old daughter and have a son on the way who will be here in about six weeks. I feel so blessed. We decided to get away for the weekend as it was one of the few weekends this month that Geoff didn't have to work on Sunday mornings. We booked a hotel in Seaside. It was a very fancy hotel room with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and a nice seating area and kitchen. It was ideal as Katie had her own room with a queen bed and we had a room with a king. The only drawback was that we could hear people in the hall and above us quite well. But it included breakfast which was really nice, with bagels, waffles, and fresh fruit.

We arrived Friday night and had dinner at our favorite restaurant in Seaside called Li'l Bayou. The next day started out kind of cloudy but as we got to the beach in Cannon Beach the clouds cleared off and it started to warm up. Katie had fun just sitting in the sand and digging with her shovel.

After a while we tried to walk towards Haystack Rock but Katie ran out of steam. She said she had to go to the potty so we went back and she went and washed her hands as they were very sandy. But then she wanted to go back on the beach and we didn't want to repeat the whole process so we got in the car and drove down to Tillamook where we stopped at the Blue Heron wine and cheese tasting room.

Katie had fun seeing the animals. They had chickens and goats, sheep, an emu, and a llama and also some donkeys.

They also had some cool old trucks and buses that made for some wonderful photos.

About Me

I love photography. My favorite subjects are my husband and my daughter. My family calls me Photomom. I'm trying to improve my photography and photo editing skills. In the past I have focused on travel, landscapes and macros and I'm expanding my subject matter to include portraits. I've created this blog to share my photos with family and friends and to track my progress.
